Unit of Measurement:
Unit of Measurement will be defined at item Master for Purchase, inventory and sales.
Navigate to below path for accessing the unit of measure master in Microsoft Dynamics AX.
Path: Organization administration >> Setup >> Units >> Units.
1. Users can find the full list of Units that are available to use in AX.
2. Click New to create a new Unit.
3. Enter the required data in Unit field and Description Field.
4. Select the Class from the unit class drop down list.
5. Select the Unit system from System of the Unit drop down list.
Unit Conversions:
Navigate to the below path for accessing the Unit conversions.
Path: Organization administration >> Setup >> Units >> Unit conversion
In the Unit conversions form,
1. In the left pane, select the type of conversion to set up from the following options:
Standard conversions – Rules that apply to all products. Standard conversion rules can only be set up for units of measure in the same unit class.
Intra-class conversions – Rules for units of measure in the same unit class.
Inter-class conversions – Rules for units of measure across unit classes.
2. Click New to create a new conversion rule. To modify an existing conversion, select it in the list.
3. In the Factor field, enter a conversion factor between the From unit and the To unit.
4. With the numerator and the denominator values, the user can indicate whether the relation between the From unit and the To unit is a 1:1 ratio or if it is a fraction.
5. For example, the user wants to create a conversion rule for a product where only a half piece fits into a box. In this case, you can set up a conversion factor with From unit = Box and To unit = Pieces, and then enter 1 in the Numerator field and 2 in the Denominator field.
6. In the Rounding field, select the method for rounding a fractional value when the conversion rule is applied.
