PowerMockup Review

In our previous post we have elaborated the importance of wireframing for ERP Consultants. As we promised, this post will be an end to end review of PowerMockup that includes Prerequisites, Installation, Licensing and usability.

PowerMockup is a simple PowerPoint Add on which contains the wide range of user interface elements made entirely out of PowerPoint shapes. Those elements includes, buttons, Icons and Fields which are basic features required to create the screen prototypes for mobile, web and desktop applications. The user of PowerMockup doesn't required to be an user interface designer or graphic designer because, this requires just drag and drop skills and also just runs on most basic application - MS PowerPoint.

Prerequisites:

Prerequisites of PowerMockup Add on is not as complicated as other wireframe/prototyping tools. It just requires a Microsoft PowerPoint. PowerMockup installation requires Microsoft PowerPoint 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016 (including Office 365) for Windows.

Installation:

Installation of PowerMockup is as simple as installing the any other basic applications. It doesn't involves many complicated steps like in other wireframe/prototyping software. All we need to do is just down load a setup from the PowerMockup web page and install it with ease.

Licensing:

PowerMockup comes in four different types of licensing range that includes individual license, Small Team , Regular Team and Enterprise edition. The most important feature to be noted in the licensing part is all those license types are not having any expiry dates which means "No Subscription". These licenses also includes free updates and 30 Days Money back Guarantee.

Individual license: This a pack of 1 user that has a price tag of $ 59 .99.

Small team: This is a pack of 5 users that has a price tag of $ 269 .95. This saves 10 % of cost while comparing to Individual license.

Regular team: This is a pack of 10 users that has a price tag of $ 479 .90. This saves 20 % of cost while comparing to Individual license.

Enterprise: This is a pack of 50 users that has a price tag of $ 2,099 .50. This saves 30 % of cost while comparing to Individual license.

For more details and purchase, please visit PowerMockup order page.

Usability:

Once the PowerMockup is installed as an Add on of PowerPoint, The new Button tab with the label "PowerMockup" will be visible for users.

Under PowerMockup tab, we can find some simple and easy access controls (Buttons), which are really self understandable and doesn't need any user manuals or guidance. This still makes the PowerMockup unique and simpler than other wireframing tools which are having most complex buttons.

The Main course lies under the "Show Shapes Panel" button. Once this button is clicked, A separate PowerMockup shapes panel is opening in the right side of the window.

From the panel, All we need to do is to drag and drop the required shapes for our wireframe. All the shape properties of PowerPoint is also applicable for these PowerMockup shapes. This allows users to change the shape color and size.

Sample screens designed with the help of PowerMockup:

With the PowerMockup Trail version, we tried to replicate one of our SharePoint portal screens. This works great for our purpose and made an effective illustrative communication between us and our customers.

Summary:

On the whole, this tool is most useful for those who work in the Software service sector for visualizing the output before initiating the development and to reduce the effort on UI Trail and error works after the development. Moreover, Usability of this tool is also simplified by Drag and drop feature which doesn't need any kind of veteran design skills. And that's why DynaRule Loves PowerMockup than any other wireframing tools.
